Crocheted Shawl for Women
Crochet has become more and more popular in Scandinavia and knitting magazines frequently showcase crochet accessories and garments. This summer a lace crocheted shawl caught my eye: The stitch pattern is easy to memorize, and we love that ;-)
Yarn I had 3 skeins gray aran weight yarn in my stash – each 50 g. These were combined with one skein Rowan Kidsilk Haze in pink. The result is an airy shawl, which works well on colder summer nights or a chilly summer day. I think I’ll wear it as well in winter for decoration with a black or white colored outfit.
Hook 3,5 mm US: 4/E
Pattern Found in the Danish knitting magazine Kreativ Strik nr. 2, 2013, where it is has the most creative name Sommer Sjal (summer shawl). As edging the pattern called for a trivial shell border. I spiffed up this part and replaced it with pattern #59 from Eadie Eckman’s book Around the Corner – Crochet Borders. The shawl looks much more feminine and delicate with a lacy edging.
The crocheted shawl held together with a pretty brooch from Noa Noa:
