Crochet Crown Brooch
Just noodling around on Pinterest I found a pattern for these cute crown brooches. There is a great photo tutorial and pattern for this brooch over at the Dutch site De Haakbrigade. The pattern is in Dutch, but I managed to decipher it with the help of this translation tutorial from Dutch to UK and US crochet terms.
The Dutch crown prince Willem Alexander will soon be king of the Netherlands, since his mother chose to abdicate in favour of him. So they are sure all royal giddy in the Netherlands right now preparing for the inauguration ceremony, which takes place later this month. We commoners can use some royal chic once in a while and dress up with a little crown. This would also make a perfect gift for girls, who like to dress up like little princesses.
I used leftovers in my stash, – cotton yarn in DK and sport weight and some yellow wool yarn in lace weight worked double stranded.
You just need a few meters or yards for each crown. Enjoy!!!
The brooches are attached with safety pins or with brooch pins, which are glued onto the fabric.
