Note: This pattern is written with US crochet terms. If you are more familiar with UK, Danish or German crochet terms, see my translation Crochet Chart.
If you prefer crochet charts, I made a chart for the coaster. If you are unfamiliar with reading charts, see my Tutorial how to read a Crochet Chart Motif.
With 2 strands of yarn sew the pattern beneath on top of the coaster.
Felt the coaster in the washing machine at 30 Celcius/85 Fahrenheit. I used the program for washing wool.
Below you see how I made a snowflake with the same pattern.

Hi Carolle Claire,
You are most welcome!
THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! this is exactly what I have been combing the hills and ‘webs’ for!!! Fun, looks easy enough to teach beginner crocheters. You are a blessing!! :-)
Have a JOYOUS winter!
Hi Pixie,
Thank you! Let’s hope your crochet class is already in the mood for Winter and Christmas ;-)
Thank you for sharing this! I’ve been looking for coaster patterns that are not plain circles but also not very complicated. Although I might not felt this because I will be working with acrylic (the most affordable one where I am), I think it’s still a uniquely simple design. Again, thank you. : )
Good luck with it, – and happy Christmas for you and your family:-)
