- Yarn Rowan Tapestry, 4 skeins. Wilferts Firenze, one skein in pink. One skein Jorun Alpaca, 100 g/100 m-109 yards in dark brown.
- Knitting Needles 5 mm
- Hook 5 mm US: 8/H
The item is made up of a knitted piece and then continued as crochet.
Start knitting with a cast on of 12 stitches. The top of the shawl is knitted in garter stitch with double threaded Rowan Tapestry. In garter stitch you knit normal in every row. (Opposed to stockinette stitch, where one switches between knitting straight and knitting purl rows). Knit as long as you want the finished width of the shawl to be.
The rest of the shawl is crocheted with double crochets (US terms). Start crocheting double crochets at the edge of the garter knitted top. Decrease the amount of double crochets on each side by crocheting double crochets together in each row. When decreasing this way I alternated using different qualities of yarn.
The edge is in Jorun Alpaca made with a crochet shell stitch.
